Nightmares

618: “The Screenplay” by Chuck Rakiecz, Et al

TWL-618
STORY

A collaborative story written by Chuck Rakiecz with contributions from Cynthia Lowman, Daniel Foytik, Mark Seeley, and Uhurina Swann.

A fun and unnerving little story that takes place during a Twilight Zone Marathon leads to a strange encounter for Daniel Edward Dunnmire, III when he's joined by fictional versions of a few very well known writers interested in changing his destiny.

About the Author:

Chuck

Chuck Rakiecz is the original “Analog Man,” a self-described semi-technophobe who pines for the pre-social media days of yore. He is a retired model builder for the museum exhibit and industrial display industry. Chuck lives in Pittsburgh, PA with his wife, Sue, and their feisty tabby cat, Misty.

In addition to his membership in Pennwriters, Chuck is also a life member of the nationally known, Western Pennsylvania Model Railroad Museum. He developed the concept and preliminary plans for the museum’s fictional, Mon-Valley System,” a 4,000 sq. ft. model railroad display, featured on WQED TV and national hobby magazines.

Chuck is currently working on a time travel murder mystery novel, “POINT IN TIME,” and acts as Coordinator for the Pittsburgh East Writers critique group. He is also a member of an informal critique group of former CCAC classmates.

TWL-Cover-617f
STORY

A story that takes place on an ill fated family road trip, this week's tale will make you realize even your worst road trips were never this bad. Deep in the desert, dark things await the Carter Family, from both without and within.

A modern tale with traditional Native American elements interwoven, you'll find much to fear on this dark trip.

About the Author:

Julia Benally, on one dark and stormy night (seriously) was born to the Bear Clan of the White Mountain Apache Tribe.

She discovered my love of story telling at a very young age and then she put the stories to paper. She loves to cross stitch, swing her nun-chucks (even when she hits myself), sing, hunt and fish. She makes other people eat the fish mind you. She loves making apple pie, especially from her own trees outside.

Julia has been featured in Sanitarium Magazine, Snapping Twig Magazine and A Shadow of Autumn Anthology.

615: “Sealed With a Kiss” by Owl Goingback

STORY

Dark, terrifying imagery, and truly masterful storytelling are central to this week's Wicked Tale.

Stranded in the Georgia countryside after his car breaks down, Air Force mechanic Kent Philips gets caught up in a storm of epic proportions.

As he seeks and finds shelter from the storm, he meets a woman on the run from someone named Luke and what just might be the end of the world.

About the Author:

Having served in the Air Force, and the former owner of a restaurant and lounge, Owl Goingback became a full time writer in 1987. He has written numerous novels, children’s books, screenplays, and short stories.

His novel CROTA won the Bram Stoker Award for Best First Novel, and was one of four finalists in the Best Novel category. His novel DARKER THAN NIGHT was also a Stoker Nominee for best novel of the year. Both books draw upon his Native American heritage to tell a story of supernatural suspense, as do his other novels EVIL WHISPERS, BREED and SHAMAN MOON.

Owl’s children’s books, EAGLE FEATHERS and THE GIFT, have received critical acclaim from parents and teachers, and are currently used in numerous reading programs. EAGLE FEATHERS is a Storytelling World Awards Honor Recipient.

In addition to his writing under his own name, Owl has also ghostwritten several books for Hollywood celebrities. He has also lectured throughout the country on the customs and folklore of the American Indians.

Recently, Owl converted four of his novels into electronic format for the Kindle. He is currently working on a dark fantasy trilogy and several screenplays. For more information about the author, please visit his website owlgoingback.com.

612: “Train Man” by Cynthia Lowman

STORY

Ever since she was a child, Rissa has been terrified of the trains that rumbled past her house at night and the nightmares that came with them - especially those of the Train Man.

While Rissa finds ways to cope with her fear as she grows older, she still remembers her dreams, the Train Man, and the wicked things he did. It's time, Killer.

About the Author:

Cynthia Lowman likes her name but goes by Cindy.

She is mostly a writer and sometimes a web designer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is editing her first novel and hopes to defy the odds by getting it published. In case that doesn’t work, she will start her second novel before the end of 2015.

She writes short stories, some of which will be featured on 9th Story Studios, The Lift and The Wicked Library podcasts. Cindy is a member of Pennwriters as well as two writing groups that she expects to help make her famous.
