RW-4: “Bad Shepherd”

STORIES

Let's REWIND! From Season Two comes a remastered version of Lydia Peever's chilling tale "Bad Shepherd." In this week’s story, we meet Laurel; a sweet girl who grows up to be a “Demon Whisperer." This story is in the collection available on AmazonPray Lied Eve: Short Tales of the Untoward!

Just for extra fun, our rewinds feature an opening that pays homage to classic shows from The Golden Age of Radio that inspired The Wicked Library.

About the Author:

Lydia Peever
Lydia Peever is a horror author and journalist from Ontario, Canada. She is a big fan of horror music, books and film–so anywhere there is blood, you will probably find her lurking somewhere in the corner.

Her short stories have appeared in Postscripts To Darkness, Dark Moon Digest, For When The Veil Drops and her small collection, Pray Lied Eve. The follow up to her first novel Nightface has been written.

In her spare time, she helps update the new releases section of the Horror Writers Association website, photographs zombie walks or bloody punk rock bands, and records a few podcasts.

STORIES

Let's REWIND! From Season One comes a story from Nancy Rosenberg England! We also drop two fresh scary short tales from Josef Matulich.

Just for extra fun, our rewinds feature an opening that pays homage to classic shows from The Golden Age of Radio that inspired The Wicked Library.

About the Authors:

Josef Matulich is an author, costume/make-up artist, and retired mime. His work runs towards horror & comedy so black it is almost ultraviolet, because the only proper response to the world is to laugh or crawl under your covers for a bit of therapeutic whimpering. His Arcanum Faire novels, “Camp Arcanum” and “Power Tools in the Sacred Grove”, are published by Post Mortem Press. He has a horror/comedy screenplay trapped in pre-production Hell. When not occupied with all of the above, he helps run a costume/vintage store with his wife.

Mae March, the Mad Mistress of the Mad Marshes is the most dominant fragmentation of the already compartmentalized mind known as the Mad Marshes. The chosen name itself is little more than a quirky twist on her most beloved character from the colorful cast of a favored childhood book.

Her writing began at an early age, starting with scripts and short skits which she would enact for her ever humoring cousin, but didn't take a turn toward terror until college and life in the harshness of what most of you think is reality showed her droll the world was, and how desperately it needed a little nettling in the noggin to open it's eyes to the shadows lurking in the corners.

Edgar Allan Poe was an American writer, editor, and literary critic.Poe is best known for his poetry and short stories, particularly his tales of mystery and the macabre.

Lafcadio Hearn, known also by the Japanese name Koizumi Yakumo (小泉 八雲?), was an international writer, known best for his books about Japan, especially his collections of Japanese legends and ghost stories, such as Kwaidan: Stories and Studies of Strange Things.

STORY

A story that takes place on an ill fated family road trip, this week's tale will make you realize even your worst road trips were never this bad. Deep in the desert, dark things await the Carter Family, from both without and within.

A modern tale with traditional Native American elements interwoven, you'll find much to fear on this dark trip.

About the Author:

Julia Benally, on one dark and stormy night (seriously) was born to the Bear Clan of the White Mountain Apache Tribe.

She discovered my love of story telling at a very young age and then she put the stories to paper. She loves to cross stitch, swing her nun-chucks (even when she hits myself), sing, hunt and fish. She makes other people eat the fish mind you. She loves making apple pie, especially from her own trees outside.

Julia has been featured in Sanitarium Magazine, Snapping Twig Magazine and A Shadow of Autumn Anthology.

A truly terrifying tale, it asks if we really ever truly know another person - or ourselves - as well as we think we do.

He’s had short stories published in various anthologies (Dark Corners Calvin Demmer, Dark Light III, Behind Closed Doors, and Disrupted Worlds to name a few), two stories as podcasts at The Wicked Library, and is the author of the ebook novellas Zombie Revelations and Stonefall. STORY

Dark, terrifying imagery, and truly masterful storytelling are central to this week's Wicked Tale.

Stranded in the Georgia countryside after his car breaks down, Air Force mechanic Kent Philips gets caught up in a storm of epic proportions.

As he seeks and finds shelter from the storm, he meets a woman on the run from someone named Luke and what just might be the end of the world.
