STORIES

This week is a double feature, with two terrifying tales from Miracle Austin!

Last Pass:

When a man with an addiction learns a family secret, he might be in for more than he bargained for despite whether he believes or not.

Lights Out:

What if a fear of the dark is justified and the light that keeps it at bay is taken away?

About the Author:

Miracle Austin
Miracle Austin is a YA/NA Cross-Genre author; adults also enjoy her works. She’s been writing ever since first hearing Drive by the Cars in junior high. Horror/suspense are her favorite genres, but not limited to. She enjoys writing diverse flashes and short stories.

Her first novella, Doll, a story about outcast teens versus the popular mean girl in an untraditional way is avaialble now. She’s also completed her first extremely, eclectic—requires mind to be open to the impossible—short story collection, Boundless which currently being edited.

You could say that Boundless is a gumbo of themes, some light-hearted, while others are much darker… She hopes to release it before the end of the year. She is also working stand-alone novel, Lonestar UnOrdinary Girl, a supernatural tale with comedic elements.

She resides in Texas with her family. She loves to chat it up, so feel free to contact her.

“Lingering fiction that ignites diverse mind journeys and beyond…”

623: “Sweet & Sticky Sarah” by Sebastian Bendix

STORY

Money and privilege often allow one to operate with impunity, but for one well off Boston elite, things are about to get interesting.

Reginald Early, Jr. is the heir apparent to taking over his father's company - a company that was also responsible for the Great Molasses Flood of 1919. But Reginald's arrogance and cruelty might interfere with those plans if he's not careful.

About the Author:

Sebastian Bendix is a Los Angeles based writer and musician, as well as host of a popular midnight horror film series, Friday Night Frights at the Cinefamily. He attended school at Emerson College for writing and has had fiction and non-fiction pieces published in both in print (Mean Magazine, Sanitarium Magazine and Xchyler Publishing) and online (CHUD.com, Encounters Magazine and Grinning Skull Press).

He has written several screenplays in the genres of fantasy, horror and sci fi, one of which, The Black Cradle, is in development as an independent feature. The Patchwork Girl is his first full-length novel. His second novel, The Stronghold, is nearing completion and will be out to publishers in 2016.

622: “Dear Cousin Gavin” by Aaron Vlek

STORY

Most families have secrets. But secrets always yearn to be known.

Join us as we explore the dark secret of one family. A secret with roots that run deep-- a secret that refuses to stay buried.

About the Author:

Aaron Vlek is a storyteller who works with the trickster mythos in its role as bringer of delight and proponent of disquieting humors. Some of her (yes, her) stories center around the goings on of the jinn, and of a universal imagining of the Native American character, Coyote. Some works are historical in setting while others occupy a contemporary and urban landscape. She also indulges frequently in the reimagining of classic themes of horror and the occult. Aaron is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College.

Domine Canè, a short piece of speculative horror with a historic theme, appeared in the April 2015 issue of Bards and Sages Quarterly, Vol. VII, Issue II. The Black Meal, a work of speculative horror appeared in the October 2015 issue of Outposts of Beyond. At the Kids’ Table appeared in the 2015 Christmas Edition of Chicken Soup for the Soup. Eight additional stories have been accepted for publication throughout 2016.

619: “A Job’s a Job” by TD Trask

TWL-Cover-619
STORY

Vince, the owner of a convenience store in a small New York town finds himself suddenly in need of a new night manager.

The perfect applicant shows up, but what will happen if he hires him? And, what makes him such a good fit for the position?

About the Author:

terry_pic_200x200
TD Trask is a writer of horror. A self-described reformed Scottish-Irish barbarian, he lives in Binghamton, NY with his wife, Dena and their two feline overlords, Ralphie and Gracie.

He has lived on both American coasts, has gotten his kicks on Route 66 more than once, visited Area 51, received an abrupt military invitation to leave Area 51, and is one degree of separation from Mel Gibson, Lou Ferrigno, James Whitmore and Bill Maher.

His first published novel, “Still Waters”, is about a man who forms a deep and unexpected connection with a most unusual neighbor. “Legend of the Tiger” is an epic fantasy-thriller depicting the dangerous mission of a band of domestic animals trying to protect our planet from ecological terrorism. His latest effort, “Deadsville”, co-written with author Dale Elster, is an anthology of short, throwback-style horror stories set in fictional Rock Creek, NY, where strange and terrifying things happen to everyday, rural people. Works-in-progress include “The Callers”, a horror story set once again in Upstate’s Rock Creek, as well as his next short story collection, “Banquet of Souls”.
