C.-Bryan-Brown
C. Bryan Brown a writer and plunger hater who enjoys the finer things in life. You know, equal rights, expensive whiskey, and sex.

He was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He’ s been hit in the face with a dirty plunger, run over with his own car, and lived in a haunted house. Now he lives the American Dream of debt of near poverty with his wife, kids, and grandkids somewhere in central Ohio. He writes to avoid going to jail and indulge his dark side. Bret Bouriseau grew up in a small Midwestern town along the Mississippi. As a boy, much of his free time was spent reading and drawing. Not caring for the structure of the public school system, he took his GED test in his junior year while still in high school. After receiving his diploma he promptly left, leaving his home for good shortly after turning 17.

Throughout the early ‘80’s he traveled, supporting himself with various odd jobs -including airbrush artist and carnie. In 1985 he joined the U S Navy and reported aboard the USS Enterprise visiting 14 countries before ending his tour of duty in 1989. In 1992 he discovered the wonderful world of sales, a profession that combined travel and word skills. It was a natural fit.

After running a few legit businesses Bret tried his hand at publishing an underground paper called The Spectre. He sold ads and organized party bus tours to subsidize his income. It was there he began to hone his skills in earnest.

Both an artist and writer, Bret acknowledges painter and cover artist Frank Frazetta as his biggest single artistic influence. His personal style is more akin to Maxfield Parrish

An avid reader of pulp fiction, his two favorite books are Bram Stoker’s Dracula and The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis

Xmas Massacre, Christmassacre 3, whatever you want to call it, it’s TWL’s Annual Horrorday Special!

This year we have a holiday family history lesson from MVS, a gory space story from David J Fairhead, insane surrealism from Brady Allen and Jingling fear from the mighty KT Jayne as well as Happy Horriday Carols from Jessica McHugh!

About the Authors:

Maddie Holliday Von Stark is a badass horror fiction writer from the north woods of Wisconsin. She is known for her mad scientist fractal art, Lord Byron – Ed Poe – Lovecraft – Henry Rollins-ish damnable writings. She is the former Art Director of the Wicked Library. She is also on the marketing team for Fantastic Planet/A Night of Horror Film Festival, Sydney, Australia.

Maddie is currently the Director of Forsaken, the horror genre imprint at Booktrope. Her first novel, The Widows Game is available on Amazon.

When not creating artistic mayhem, MVS enjoys spending time with her hairless chihuahua, Mr. Wu. She is also known for her county fair winning Wicked Apple Jelly. She is also a proud graduate of Montana State University. “Go Cats!”

KT Jayne asks: Do you know what to do in case of zombie apocalypse? How about when surrounded by a mad horde of Doctor Who fangirls? What if the Mothman invades your town? What if aliens land and start shooting up the place? Lucky for you that you have met KT Jayne. She knows exactly what to do if any of these things happen. She should, she’s spent her entire life obsessing about all these “what ifs” and more. Lucky for you, too, she has Asperger’s and with her out of the box thinking and whiz kid know how, she might just save your skin. Or your soul. Grab your shovel of death and prepare to face whatever form the apocalypse will take. Or just stand behind her. She’ll figure it out. No matter how the apocalypse manifests, KT Jayne does not die at the end.

KT Jayne lives in a small town of central Indiana waiting patiently for the Apocalypse to come.

Both an artist and writer, Bret acknowledges painter and cover artist Frank Frazetta as his biggest single artistic influence. His personal style is more akin to Maxfield Parrish

Mae March, the Mad Mistress of the Mad Marshes is the most dominant fragmentation of the already compartmentalized mind known as the Mad Marshes. The chosen name itself is little more than a quirky twist on her most beloved character from the colorful cast of a favored childhood book.

Her writing began at an early age, starting with scripts and short skits which she would enact for her ever humoring cousin, but didn't take a turn toward terror until college and life in the harshness of what most of you think is reality showed her droll the world was, and how desperately it needed a little nettling in the noggin to open it's eyes to the shadows lurking in the corners.

TWL-Cover-609
STORY

"Rag Doll"
Teller: Connie Regan-Blake (Story and Narration)

It's our mid summer special. While the Librarian has everyone busy doing inventory at the Library, we dig deep into the Library's secret archives and pull out a tale told by one of America's best known professional storytellers, Connie Regan-Blake.

It's a tale that starts right here in Pittsburgh, PA and heads down into Rich Bottles Jr. Territory - West Virginia. A teacher moves south to take a job and gets more than she bargained for. Sit back and relax and listen to "Rag Doll".

See Connie at  the Three Rivers Storytelling Festival www.3rstf.org this weekend (August 7th & 8th 2015)!

About the Teller:

Connie Regan-Blake is one of America’s most celebrated storytellers. She has captivated the hearts and imaginations of people around the globe with her powerful performances and workshops.

Connie has performed at the nation’s top folk music and storytelling festivals in Chicago, Philadelphia, and San Francisco, as well as the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington, D.C. Her groundbreaking collaboration with the Kandinsky Trio - an innovative blend of storytelling and chamber music - has been hailed as a “new art form.”

As a founding board member of the National Storytelling Association (formerly NAPPS), and a frequent host and featured performer at the National Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee, Connie helped ignite and shape the American storytelling revival.

606: “The Blackest Curse” by Jesse J Saxon

STORY

"The Blackest Curse"
Author: Jesse J. Saxon

The Wicked Library brings you a modern version of a traditional folk tale. A play on the bear skin tale, this creative story blends elements from different traditions and the artist's imagination seamlessly. This story reminds us to be careful what we agree too. Things that seem too good to be true often are.

About the Author:

Jesse J. Saxon was born in the shadow of Pittsburgh. Jesse has been a fan of horror and fiction since early childhood. He initially got started writing in junior high and kept it as a hobby until the mid 2000s when he began to pursue it as an active interest and profession. In addition to writing fiction, Jesse also covers the nonfiction world by way of op-ed pieced and journalism for the world of Mixed Martial Arts. In his spare time, Jesse enjoys training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, good coffee, reading all sorts of things, and cigars with his cat.
