Ted Morrissey's novel excerpts, short stories, poems, essays, reviews, and translations have appeared in more than eighty journals. His most recent novels are The Artist Spoke, Mrs Saville (Manhattan Book Award), and Crowsong for the Stricken (International Book Award and American Fiction Award, as well as a Kirkus Reviews Best Indie Book of 2017).

"Midianites" is from a work in progress. Other pieces have been published in or by North American Review, Sequestrum, Belle Ombre, Adelaide Books, and Wordrunner (which published three pieces as the collection First Kings and Other Stories).

A lecturer in Lindenwood University's MFA in Writing program, he lives with his wife and their rescue dogs near Springfield, Illinois.
